A break from the city atmosphere.

Essa

In the largely agricultural municipality of Essa Township, life is slower pace, a pace that’s in sync with the changing days and seasons. Essa also includes some settlements that offer a taste and a break from the urban as well as the rural: Angus and Thornton, and the Canadian Forces Base Borden.

Living Here

Living in Essa

The township of Essa is unique in location and is truly “where town and country meet”. It's a place for those who love nature with numerous parks, trails, creeks and streams to explore while enjoying the fresh air. Essa has many districts within its boundaries, but none are quite the relevance or size of Angus township and the hamlet of Thornton. These two towns are what Essa life is all about, a smaller hometown vibe away from the rush and commute of Barrie and Innisfil. Communities are close-knit, have just the amenities you need, and have access to all major routes if you need a change of scenery.

CFB Borden’s military museum is one of the largest military museums in Canada. Its collection includes WWI and WWII and post-war armoured vehicles, trucks and planes, as well as uniforms, equipment and other artifacts.
