Living in Tiny

In Tiny, an array of smaller communities and hamlets enhance the sense of community; Lafontaine in the north adds a Francophone flair, with its music and cultural events, particularly le Festival de Loup in the summer. As well as their own festivals, Tiny Township residents enjoy other events, festivals and presentations in nearby north Simcoe Communities, including the butter tart festival in Midland and Winterama in Penetanguishene. Although this is the most northerly community, residents are never far from the action on the water, in the town, or a short drive away.

The township was named in 1822 after a pet dog of Lady Sarah Maitland, who was the wife of Sir Peregrine Maitland, Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada. The surrounding township of Tay was also named after a pet dog of Sarah Maitland.

Wahnekewening Beach

One of many 5-star beaches in Tiny township, Wahnekewening Beach is a pristine white sandy shoreline along Grandolph Bay. This beach has been a popular destination for tourists and locals for over 60 years, making it one of the top summer destinations in the area. A heads up for visitors, parking is now by local permit only.

Not only is Windlee Farms a top performer for Maple Syrup in the region; but they have also been named the top producer in Canada for 2018. Check it out at any time of year to try a variety of Maple treats or to bring home your own bottle of Maple Syrup!

Awenda Provincial Park

Awenda Provincial Park is located on a peninsula of Georgian Bay, offering almost 30 square kilometers of natural environment and protected lands. A variety of camping, hiking, swimming or boating options make this a great location for activities all summer long. The park is open year round for visitors but only supports camping from May to October.
