Living in Wyebridge

The Township of Tiny is the most northerly Township in Simcoe County. It has 70 kilometers of beautiful shoreline on Georgian Bay and is made up of several smaller hamlets including Wyebridge, Wyevale, and Perkinsfield.

It’s very much a cottage retreat as the town’s population doubles in size during the summer months with seasonal property owners. Wyebridge is one of the smaller communities within Tiny Township and is a great place to live if you’re looking to retire or settle down in a quiet town. It boasts a variety of recreation opportunities and programs for seniors.

Housing styles are limited to average to larger-sized single-family homes that have been built over the decades. If you’re on the hunt for a waterfront property, some cottage properties do have waterfront access on Georgian Bay that comes with their own personal dock for smaller boats and seadoos. With it’s ever-growing population the town is starting to see smaller apartment developments happening in town as well as luxury homes being built by seasonal property owners.

For families with school-aged children, elementary school students will attend Wyevale Central Public School in the nearby community of Wyevale. Since there are no high schools within Town, students are bussed to Georgian Bay District Secondary School in the nearby town of Midland.

As mentioned before Wyebridge provides a variety of recreational and sports opportunities. Wyebridge Park can be found at the Wyebridge Community Centre where you will find a playground and baseball diamond for community use. Inside the community center, there’s a gymnasium that can be used for a variety of different sporting tournaments like basketball, volleyball, and badminton as well as a community room that’s used for different township events or available for rental.

If you’re looking for a great place to relax during the summer, Jackson Beach Park is a popular spot for visitors and locals alike for swimming. There’s also a boat launch here for those who enjoy boating.

The Tiny Trail and Snowmobiling is a 23-kilometer multi-use trail that passes through agricultural land and hardwood forest. This is a great trail to walk along during the summer if you enjoy exploring different wildlife that’s local to the area. In the winter many use the trail for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.

Tiny Township provides a variety of different senior services to those living in the community such as workshops that seniors can register for that address issues related to seniors. They also have a social program where you can meet others from the community, chat, and have some light refreshments at the Wyebridge Community Centre.

Because Tiny Township is one of the smaller townships within Simcoe County, shopping and amenities are limited, so residents must travel to nearby larger towns of Midland and Penetanguishene to do grocery shopping and access amenities like health, dental, and other services.

Local restaurants within Tiny Township operate to serve their seasonal population and you will find that most of them are only open from May through October. Balm Beach Bar and Smokehouse is a popular restaurant located at Balm Beach. Enjoy a perfect view of the beach while you enjoy some delicious Caribbean-inspired food. Another popular restaurant is the Surf Bar and Grill located in Perkinsfield is a great family restaurant that serves your traditional pub fare.

Tiny Township is a great place to purchase a seasonal property because of its access to a variety of recreational activities, retire, or if you’re looking to settle down in a quiet community outside the city.
