The Barrie South neighborhood situated on the border of Innisfil is a high-growth area that has attracted many residential developments. As you drive along with Lockhart you will see some mature trees, farm fields, and empty land where the new Everwell development will be.
The Country Estate neighborhood located on Lockhart Road consists of mostly single-family homes with a few townhomes located on the far side. The neighborhood is relatively small and family-friendly with lots of kids young and old living there. There’s a playground situated inside, and you will see many residents walking around the neighborhood.
The Everwell development located on Lockhart Road is a townhouse and single-family home development by Sobara Group of companies that are currently in its pre-construction phase. Design styles will showcase fluid floor plans, forging trails, and backyards.
Although there a no schools situated within the neighborhood, kids are bussed to nearby elementary schools Assikinack, Willow Landing, or St. Michael the Archangel. Kids in high school are bussed to nearby high schools Innisdale Secondary or St. Peters. There’s also a child daycare center located in the neighboring Painswick neighborhood, Willow Landing Daycare and they also provide before and after school programs.
Access to highway 400 is within a 10-minute drive in both directions to either Mapleview Drive or Innisfil Beach Road on-ramps. For those that rely on public transit, there is one bus route that stops directly inside the neighborhood that was implemented around two years ago.
It may seem like this neighborhood is far away from amenities, but shopping and dining centers are all within a 10-to-15-minute drive in both directions. Zehr’s, located in the neighboring Painswick community and Walmart Supercenter on Mapleview will serve your grocery needs. In Park Place, you will find Goodness Me which is a natural food market for those that prefer a healthier and sustainable food shopping experience. There’s a Circle K located at the corner of Huronia and Mapleview drive for quick gas fill-ups. Some local dining options are Wild Wing and Qing’s Cuisine, but larger dining centers like Park Place are about an eight-minute drive away or you can visit the downtown center is a 15-minute drive. Park Place also provides a ton of shopping choices and is continuously expanding with new stores and restaurants opening every year.
For those that enjoy walking, there are some local walking trails nearby the neighborhood as well such as Barrie’s waterfront walking trail, the Simcoe Country Forest Blauxham trail, and the Cookstown-Thornton Trans Canada trail which will surround you with fresh air and peaceful walks all within a 15-minute drive away from the neighborhood.
The Barrie South neighborhood is a great neighborhood that is just far enough away to avoid the bustle of the city but still close to amenities. Future development plans for the neighborhood are built around natural heritage features, which will provide pedestrian and cycling pathways that link neighborhoods with school and community resources. There is a lot to look forward to within the neighborhood in the next few years, making this a great time to relocate here.
