Living in Bracebridge
Even though the region is known for its cottagers, Bracebridge is home to more than 16,000 permanent residents. The town has its own public transit system, parks and trails, retail shopping and more. It’s just two hours north of Toronto and has easy access to Highway 11 connecting to the 400. The Muskoka Airport is just 8 km from downtown Bracebridge, making it an ideal businesses and homeowners alike.
The beginnings of Bracebridge reach as far back as 1860, but the village became official in 1875. It was settled due to the abundant water surrounding the area. The waterfalls were a major draw, offering power to the town’s first factories. When steamboats grew in popularity, the town became a trade and shipping centre for the Muskoka region. Bracebridge was the first town in Ontario to have its own hydro generating station.

Bracebridge Sportsplex
This multi-million dollar facility is home to an accessible playground, three pools, a rock wall, fitness club, and so much more. There are indoor and outdoor tracks and a low ropes course to try your hand at. Need banquet space? You’ll find it here too. The Bracebridge Sportsplex is home to the Muskoka Aquatic Club and Muskoka Limberettes Club as well as many other clubs and community uses.
Muskoka Pioneer Power Association
The Pioneer Power show is held each summer highlighting antique combustion engines, steam engines, automobiles, farm equipment and more. The show also features heritage displays, sawmill demonstrations, antique tractor pulls and more.
Muskoka Men of Song
Looking to catch a concert? The Muskoka Men of Song is a men's choral group that started just as a group of friends who had interest in the study and appreciation of good music. Overtime it grew and became what it is today. They perform in June and December for the public. This group also raises money to help local young musicians in their musical pursuits.
Fire and Ice Festival
Fire artists, fireworks, and fire pits are all a part of this fun winter festival. Enjoy the ice sculptures and skating trail or take a ride down the downtown tube run at the Fire and Ice Festival!
What's Cooking Bracebridge?
The "What's Cooking" weekend-long culinary event has food galore! With cooking demonstrations, workshops, and more, there is something for every skill level at this festival.
Santa's Village
Enjoy all things Christmas in the summer at Santa’s Village. This 60-acre park has camping space, rides, zip lines and more. Even the man in red is there to delight children of all ages.
