The Township of Ramara is located just 15 minutes East of Orillia. Made up of several smaller neighbourhoods like Joyland Beach, Atherly, and Lagoon City this rural town is popular for seasonal properties and those wanting to live a slower-paced lifestyle.
The Joyland Beach neighbourhood is a great option for families with elementary schools, parks, and playgrounds nearby. This neighbourhood showcases bungalows and smaller single-family detached homes that are built throughout the decades showcasing older architectural styles. Lakefront properties can also be found in this neighbourhood providing views of beautiful Lake Simcoe.
There are two elementary schools located in neighbouring parts of Ramara, Brechin Public School and Foley Catholic School are both just a short drive away. There are no secondary schools located within Ramara Township so students in high school must travel to the nearby City of Orillia to attend either Twin Lakes Secondary School or Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School.
If you love enjoying everything that nature offers the Ramara Township is a great place to live with plenty of opportunity for outdoor recreational activities. The McRae Point Provincial Park is local to the Joyland Beach neighbourhood providing endless opportunities for outdoor activities. This park is only operational late Spring to early Fall and is a popular destination for campers. There is plenty of outdoor activities within the park like walking trails, swimming, and boating or fishing in Lake Simcoe.
Lovely Day Park is a 10-minute drive down the road and is a great park to bring the kids. There’s plenty of greenspace to enjoy here, a playground as well as a beach area for swimming during the summer. The Ramara Trail runs through the Joyland Beach neighbourhood and is part of the Trans Canada Trail which is the world’s largest network of recreational multi-use trails. This 6-kilometre trail follows along the abandoned CN rail line providing a peaceful setting to walk and enjoy nature.
Other entertainment and amenities within Ramara is the Casino Rama Resort. Enjoy a variety of different types of shows as well as gaming or a relaxing day in their spa. Casino Rama also provides a variety of restaurants such as the Firestarter Lounge. Enjoy a casual night out with friends or family, or after a show with delicious appetizers and entrees.
For most shopping and amenities, residents must travel to the nearby Cities of Barrie or Orillia, but the township does provide a general store and gas station just as you enter the township and a Foodland for groceries in the Brechin neighbourhood.
If you’re looking for a slower paced lifestyle, active community for a seasonal property, or town to retire the Joyland Beach neighbourhood is a great place to search for real estate.
