Christmas in Muskoka is one of the greatest times of the year to experience the small-town charm the Muskoka region has to offer. Each town has its own traditions and festivals that bring the community together each year to spread holiday cheer.
Santa’s Village located in Bracebridge is a year-round holiday destination with a ton of festive activities for the whole family. This entertainment venue has been a family-run business for 65 years and continues to bring families together every year through their love for the season.
Every Saturday and Sunday from November through December Santa’s Village will host a festival called Santafest where people can come have a visit with Santa, enjoy amusement rides and delicious treats from Mrs. Claus’s bakery all while spending valuable time with family and friends. Additionally, this year they will have an artisan market where visitors can shop for unique holiday gifts from participating local vendors.
This season they have a new light display called “One Million Lights Display” where you can walk through a beautiful story of Christmas told through various art displays.
If you travel into the town to the downtown area, you can experience their Festival of Lights. Downtown Bracebridge will be decorated and lit up in thousands of lights, businesses will decorate their stores and create beautiful window displays for people to enjoy as they stroll through the streets. On December 3rd the official lighting of downtown happens with plenty of kid’s activities, campfires, shopping at local businesses, and living window displays courtesy of Bracebridge School of Ballet.
Meanwhile in Downtown Huntsville, the streets will also be fully decorated to celebrate the season. An additional event has been added this year being the first annual Muskoka Market which will showcase a variety of unique local businesses that will provide a great Christmas shopping experience. This initiative was organized by working with local partners to bring the community together to shop local and take part in holiday cheer.
Attendees can expect many amazing booths, displays, and entertainment all provided by local talent. There will be carolers strolling the streets, and performances by dancers from the local dance academy.
Lastly, Christmas Tyme located in the heart of historic Downtown Huntsville has been a tourist favorite for decades. Here you will find Christmas ornaments, home décor, and unique gifts for family and friends. Every year they redesign their window displays and this is something residents and visitors look forward to every year.
In Lake of Bays, the small township of Dwight is hosting a Dwight Passport to Holiday Fun. For two weekends residents can visit local businesses with their passports and collect stickers to be entered to win a prize once completed. This initiative was designed to get residents out to local shops and shopping local for the holiday season.
