Craighurst is one of several small communities that make up the Township of Oro-Medonte. Just one hour from the GTA you can live amongst rolling hills and quietness while still having the convenience of being close to larger urban centers like Barrie and Orillia. Bass Lake Provincial Park is a popular place during the summer for swimming, hiking, fishing, and boating. You can canoe or kayak and paddleboard here as well and they also offer rentals. If you enjoy golfing the Shanty Bay Golf Club is a great place to enjoy a peaceful round in Oro-Medonte amongst acres of trees and the natural beauty the town offers.
Family-friendly activities in the area include the Sunset Drive-In movie theatre, the Steamy Kettle Sugar Bush which is a maple syrup farm in Oro Medonte, or Scales Nature Park which offers educational programs for kids featuring reptiles, amphibians, and fish.
Oro Medonte also has a variety of recreational leagues and programs for kids in minor hockey, skating, and baseball. In addition, you can also find tennis courts scattered in different parks throughout the town for your own recreational use.
In downtown Craighurst you will find a Foodland that will satisfy your grocery needs, a local pharmacy, pet store, and hair studio. For other urban amenities like wellness needs and retail shopping, residents must travel to the nearby City of Barrie or Orillia just a 10-minute drive away in both directions.
