Living in Midland

A destination for tourists, Midland is brimming with history and culture. Enhanced by its own bay and shoreline, the Town of Midland offers lots of opportunities for boaters and adventurers looking to enjoy the best nature has to offer. Built on the shores of Midland Bay, the town features older, established neighborhoods with tree-lined streets and Victorian homes, as well as a variety of newer areas that showcase the decades, with townhomes, detached and condominium options. Like many other North Simcoe communities, Midland is home to an abundance of tourism during the summer months and has also been an increasingly popular location to have a cottage.

The township of Midland became what it is today due to the Midland Railway Corporation of Port Hope’s decision to put a western terminal within the village. This jump started the local economy, and nearly 10 years later resulted in the village designation being upgraded to a township.
