Orillia Ward 4 Profile

Less than 90 minutes from the Greater Toronto Area you will find the City of Orillia, also known as the Sunshine City. The city has seen tremendous growth in population and businesses in more recent years, but they have worked hard to retain the small-town charm many have come to know.

In Orillia’s Ward 4 near Downtown Orillia, some neighborhoods have been built on hills that rise from the shoreline. As you drive down the streets in this area of town you will see that most are lined with mature trees and housing styles vary. Some of the oldest homes dating back to the Victorian era are located in a prestigious neighborhood that’s close to amenities. Ward 4 stretches up toward highway 11 and includes homes built from many decades, as well as very new, more modern homes.

More importantly, there are many schools nearby for kids to attend. Some elementary schools are Couchiching Heights and Samuel De-Champlain Catholic school. Orillia Secondary School is the only local option for secondary schools within Ward 4. For those who have young families or planning to start growing a family, there are a variety of options for childcare such as Orillia Central Pre-school, Wee Watch, and the YMCA Lions Oval kid’s space.

The City of Orillia is home to Lakehead University and Georgian College Orillia campus which both offer a variety of programs from business to science. Lakehead University has two different campus locations, one in downtown Orillia and the second on University Avenue.

Metro, Zehr’s, and Shoppers Drug Mart are all within the neighborhood to satisfy your grocery shopping needs, or you can visit Orillia’s Farmers Market to buy locally grown vegetables and support the local agriculture community. There’s also a Petro Gas Station located in the middle of Ward 4 for quick gas fill-ups.

The waterfront area along Lake Couchiching is the perfect spot to enjoy a day at the beach or park with the whole family. During the summer months, there are many free music concerts and community events for all to enjoy. There’s also a trail along the waterfront for those that enjoy walking and the outdoors.

Nearby you will find beautiful downtown Orillia which features more than 150 shops and 30 plus restaurants. If you’re a complete foodie, this is the place to be. Boasting with variety there is sure to be something for everyone. Rustica Pizza Vino has the best Italian cuisine in the city, or you can head down the street for a brew at local craft brewery Couchiching Brewing Co. There are also plenty of places nearby to satisfy your coffee fix, but we recommend visiting the Lone Wolf Café just a little further down the street from Couchiching craft brewery.

Ward 4 offers a variety of entertainment and dining options, as well as the more important relocation amenities like schools, childcare, and shopping.
