Tottenham is one of three small communities that make up the Township of New Tecumseth. It has a population of just over 5000 residents and is minutes away from highway 400 access providing quick access to the GTA for commuters. Some of the property types you will find here are single-family homes some with large and average-sized lots as well as townhomes that have been built throughout the decades.
There are two local elementary schools and one high school in the community of Tottenham. Students can attend elementary school at Tottenham Public School or Father F.X. O’Reilly Catholic School. St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School is the lone high school local to Tottenham so for those looking for a public secondary school, students will attend Banting Memorial High School in the nearby community of Alliston.
Tottenham provides plenty of areas to enjoy nature and get outside at various parks and walking trails. The Tottenham Conservation Area is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy nature all year round. It’s especially popular during the summer as there is a beach area for relaxing and swimming, a designated fishing hole, and plenty of green space to enjoy a picnic. If you enjoy walks through nature, there’s a short walking trail here that’s just over two kilometers long that takes you through the area and along woodlands and wetlands.
Boulevard Park and Sharpe Park are just two neighborhood parks that have a well-kept playground for kids to enjoy as well as plenty of green space. In addition to their many parks, you will also find various soccer fields, baseball diamonds, and tennis courts spread throughout the community.
The Tottenham Community and Fitness Centre is open all year round for minor hockey and ball hockey leagues, as well as various fitness classes and indoor co-ed sports leagues. By purchasing a town membership residents can have access to all township amenities like drop-in skates, shinny ice, swimming, fitness classes, and indoor recreational leagues. The town offers a variety of fitness classes for teens, adults, and seniors in TRX, yoga, barre, and general fitness classes tailored to different levels of activity.
For families who are new to the area and are looking to register their kids in an organized sport, New Tecumseth has numerous community leagues and clubs for kids through adults to join. The TNT Tornadoes Minor Hockey Association provides house league and rep level hockey leagues to New Tecumseth residents. Other community leagues you will find here are the Tottenham Beeton District Minor Softball, TNT Express Football, and the Tottenham Tennis Club to name a few. The Woodington Lake Golf Club is a beautiful 18-hole golf course located in the rolling hills of Tottenham. This course is challenging and great for players with some experience. In addition to their course, they also host a few golf camps for youth during the summer here as well.
Tottenham has a couple of great local restaurants for dining out. If you’re looking for a great place to enjoy your next date night, the Timo Italian Grille is a great option. It’s a family-owned restaurant that serves delicious authentic Italian dishes like Chicken Parmigiana and Spaghetti. It’s a popular restaurant amongst Tottenham and nearby residents proving its satisfaction.
The Cedar Kitchen is a great spot for breakfast or lunch. They serve all the traditional breakfast food options like pancakes, french toast, omelets, and eggs as well as homemade soups, wraps, and sandwiches. There’s something here to satisfy everyone with sweet and savory options.
