Don’t be fooled it its name.

Tiny Township

One of Simcoe County’s most northern areas, Tiny Township includes a beach-filled shoreline along Nottawasaga Bay, as well as shorelines made for boaters along Georgian Bay and into Penetanguishene Bay. From its sandy beaches in the summer to its unparalleled views that cross-country skiers enjoy in the winter, Tiny Township mixes the outdoors with up-to-date cottage – and year-round – living.

Living in Tiny

In Tiny, an array of smaller communities and hamlets enhance the sense of community; Lafontaine in the north adds a Francophone flair, with its music and cultural events, particularly le Festival de Loup in the summer. As well as their own festivals, Tiny Township residents enjoy other events, festivals and presentations in nearby north Simcoe Communities, including the butter tart festival in Midland and Winterama in Penetanguishene. Although this is the most northerly community, residents are never far from the action on the water, in the town, or a short drive away.

The township was named in 1822 after a pet dog of Lady Sarah Maitland, who was the wife of Sir Peregrine Maitland, Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada. The surrounding township of Tay was also named after a pet dog of Sarah Maitland.
